New rule gives patients access to lab test reports
Under a new rule issued last week by the Department of Health and Human Services, patients will have the right to access their medical lab reports directly from the lab that performed the testing, without having to go through the physician who ordered the test.

Candidates announced for Board of Governors Chair-elect Designee
Douglas M. DeLong, MD, FACP, and J. Matthew Neal, MD, MBA, FACP, are seeking election as Chair-elect Designee of the Board of Governors. The Governors will be casting ballots online shortly, with the winner to be announced in mid-October 2014. The winner will begin his term as Chair-elect at the conclusion of Internal Medicine 2015 and take office as Chair in May 2016.
