Carcinoids contributed to recent increase in early-onset colorectal cancer rates
While colorectal carcinoid rates are increasing more quickly than colorectal adenocarcinoma rates in younger patients, adenocarcinomas are steadily increasing in almost all early-onset subgroups, including those in their 40s, a U.S. study found.

Older adults have greater risk for complications after colonoscopy, study finds
The results suggest that clinicians should carefully consider the decision to perform colonoscopy in patients ages 75 years and older, particularly in the presence of comorbidities, study authors said.

ACP issues new guidance on colorectal cancer screening
For asymptomatic, average-risk patients ages 50 to 75 years, the guidance suggests use of a fecal immunochemical test (FIT) or high-sensitivity guaiac-based fecal occult blood test every two years, colonoscopy every 10 years, or flexible sigmoidoscopy every 10 years plus FIT every two years.
