ACP acknowledges National Physician Suicide Awareness (NPSA) Day on Sept. 17. The College is committed to raising awareness of the physician suicide epidemic and encourages physicians, their colleagues, and their loved ones to create and nurture a culture that prioritizes solving system issues surrounding burnout, safeguarding professional fulfillment, and normalizing mental health treatment.
ACP is an official NPSA Day Supporting Organization. The NPSA Day Toolkit includes helpful information on how to communicate about NPSA Day and its importance, as well as downloadable materials such as social media and digital banner graphics, presentation templates, Dear FutureDoc resources, a press release template, talking points, and more.
ACP continues to work to address the root causes that affect physician professional fulfillment and well-being through the following resources:
- ACP's Physician Well-being and Professional Fulfillment initiative,
- ACP I.M. Emotional Support Hub and Video Series, and
- Advocacy Toolkit: Modernizing License and Credentialing Applications to Not Stigmatize Mental Health.
Visit the NPSA Day website to learn more about preventing physician suicide by learning the signs and creating a safe space to talk and seek help.
