In his latest KevinMD column, ACP's Vice President of Membership and Global Engagement, Philip A. Masters, MD, FACP, discusses administrative burden, burnout, and potential solutions.

In his latest KevinMD column , ACP's Vice President of Membership and Global Engagement, Philip A. Masters, MD, FACP, looks at how administrative burdens associated with caring for patients are a primary driver of the epidemic of burnout among physicians. Dr. Masters writes, “No medical specialty is immune from the upward creep of administrative tasks associated with patient care, although it seems particularly problematic in the primary care disciplines where the burden is particularly high, with most believing it is a major contributor to the avoidance of new physicians entering generalist careers.”
