Primary care reminders, outreach boosted overdue cancer screening follow-up
Electronic reminders alone did not increase follow-up rates for abnormal breast, cervical, colorectal, or lung cancer screening test results, but adding outreach by letter and phone did, a study found.

Lung cancer screening limited by poor adherence to follow-up

Study finds low uptake of lung cancer screening in eligible Medicare patients
Although Medicare has covered lung cancer screening for eligible patients since 2015, the study found that screening numbers were low in 2016 among Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries, with lower frequency among nonwhite patients and those in regions other than the Northeast.

Four risk prediction models found most accurate for guiding lung cancer screening
These models picked similar numbers of patients who had ever smoked, showed better agreement on size of the screening population, and achieved consensus on 73% of persons chosen, while the other five models generally overestimated risk.
