Martin J. Conway, MD, FACP

Martin J. Conway, MD, FACP, a former College Governor, died on May 22, 2015, at the age of 80.

After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, Dr. Conway in 1963 graduated with honors from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He also served in the U.S. Navy, both on active duty and in the reserves.

Dr. Conway practiced as a clinical endocrinologist, and his research focused on diabetes and its complications. He educated diabetic patients on how to make the disease a small, manageable part of a full and meaningful life.

From 1983 to 1987, Dr. Conway served as Governor of the ACP New Mexico chapter, which granted him the Laureate Award in 1989. His 27-year career at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque preceded his work as an investigator for Lovelace Scientific Resources, an independent clinical trials company.
