ACP named to new Cochrane US Network to promote evidence-based health care and public health

The Cochrane US Network will focus on producing high-quality evidence on priority topics for the United States, among other goals.

ACP has been named to the new Cochrane US Network, which consists of some of the country's leading institutions in the research and practice of evidence-based medicine. Cochrane is a global leader and resource in evidence-informed health decision-making.

The Cochrane US Network will focus on producing high-quality evidence on priority topics for the United States; providing training to systematic review authors and health care practitioners, policymakers, and others in interpretation of Cochrane Reviews; and raising general awareness of the Cochrane evidence available to make well-informed health and health care decisions.

ACP is the only physician membership organization named as a network affiliate. To receive such a designation, affiliates must show a proven record of supporting evidence-based practice and expertise and competencies in systematic reviewing and evidence-informed health practice and policy. Amir Qaseem, MD, FACP, PhD, ACP's Vice President of Clinical Policy, will serve as the director of the Cochrane US Network.
