Briefings to focus on life, career skills

Sessions on insurance for early-career physicians and the outlook for international medical graduates are offered.


Two 20-minute sessions today at Innovation Theater 3 in the Exhibit Hall will focus on financial and career planning.

At 2:30 p.m., Mark Brostowitz, CIC, CRM, Principal, Mercer Consumer, will provide an overview for early-career physicians on the types of insurance they should consider as part of their overall personal financial planning. In addition, participants will learn about the typical benefits package provided to employed physicians.

At 3:15 p.m., immigration attorney Robert D. Aronson will provide an in-depth explanation of the steps that international medical graduates (IMGs) need to take to train and practice in the United States. The session includes such information as the current immigration outlook for IMGs, the transition from a J-1 visa trainee to H-1B visa physician, job searches for a Conrad waiver, and the options for permanent residence.
