Edwin P. Maynard, MD, MACP

Edwin P. Maynard, MD, MACP, died on March 19.

He served as ACP President from 1989 to 1990. Dr. Maynard was also Governor of the Massachusetts Chapter of the College from 1977 to 1981 and served as Vice-Chair of the chapter from 1980 to 1981.

After graduating from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, in 1969 he moved his family to Kampala, Uganda, where he worked in the new residency program at the Makerere University School of Medicine.

Dr. Maynard was a primary care physician at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for more than 50 years. In addition, he was an associate clinical professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, where he taught medical ethics into his late 80s.
